Stefan Haack´s Loconet Interface
Jumper Configuration
ST201, J202 and J203 are used for operation of Loconet devices if you don´t have any master driving your Railsync lines. I personally need that feature when calibrating Fred without having any other equipment than MS-SH. In that case connect a 12 V DC power supply to ST201 and set one of the two J202/J203 jumpers. In that case do not connect anything else to MS-SH than your Fred. In all other cases don´t set any of the J202/J203 jumpers and also do not connect any power to ST201 (most users will never need one of them at all).
J201 is responsable to enable the loconet pullup. If you are using a PC in conjunction with RKDCC and no other command station like the Digitrax Chief or the Intellibox, you need a loconet master that provides the network pullup. You must not have more than one pullup in your layout! So be careful you know what you are doing. Moreover the pullup needs to be calibrated (see paragraph below). Again most users (that want a simple replacement for other interfaces like the MS-100) just have to omit this jumper, and so don´t need to calibrate the pullup.
Status LEDs
The three LEDs D103, D204, D205 show the status of the MS-SH:
D103 shows the loconet activity, everytime any activity on the network is detected the LED flashes red for 1 ms.
D204 shows the status of the Railsync lines:
off | no power on railsync |
red | only RSa is driving |
green | only RSb is driving |
yellow | both RS lines are driving, OK |
D205 power monitor:
off | no local power |
green | local power present, OK |
